Varroa tester

The solution for checking the colony for varroa. 

By sampling the bees, this tester can be used to check whether varroa have contaminated the hive and establish the extent of the infestation. It is a simple and effective way of removing any doubt and helping determine the treatment. 

Directions for use:  

1. Take around 200 bees from a brood frame (making sure you don’t remove the queen of course) and put them in the tester. 
2. Spread the CO2 over the bees and varroa. 
3. 10-20 seconds later, shake the tester lightly for around 10 seconds.  

If there are varroa present, they will be visible under the grill. By counting the varroa, you can establish the extent of the infestation in the colony being tested. The sleeping bees soon wake up and can be placed back in the hive. They do not suffer and are not weakened by the experience.  

The pack contains 2 x 16g CO2 cartridges for around 12 tests in total.
